Here are the details of the exhibition in which I have work included, opening next week at Plymouth College of Art, the gallery. The college is in the centre of town adjacent to the shopping Mall and the gallery fronts the college, accessable through the main entrance. Do come and have a look at the fantastic line up of makers on show!

Open 9am - 5pm every day, this year’s exhibition from the Association for Contemporary Jewellery is about magic – the magic of making, illusions, pulling ideas out of hats and thin air. Clever fingers, deception, smoke & mirrors, craftiness and sheer skill. 29 makers and 54 pieces will be showcased from ACJ members as far afield as Vienna and Australia, as well as jewellers working in all corners of the UK. The makers present a wide range of techniques, from traditional to contemporary, whilst utilising unusual materials (including plastics, paper, resin, glass, found objects and various metals) and demonstrating a vibrant display of skill, wit and excellent design. The Association for Contemporary Jewellery was founded in 1997 to promote greater understanding of contemporary jewellery practice, to support jewellers’ creative and professional development and to develop audiences for this lively field of contemporary craft and design. acj.org.uk

Exhibition Opening: Weds 18th Nov / 5-7pm. Join us for the opening of Sleight of Hand, open to all, with refreshments provided.

Showing work at two new galleries.

From 7th November my Material Landscape collection will be available to purchase at Walford Mill Crafts in the New Forest, for their Inspire exhibition. This is where I will also be debuting my new solid pewter Craggy bangle designs  and new Shard earrings. There will also be a selection of my reclaimed Tins jewellery to purchase.

Also imminently available, will be a selection of my reclaimed Tins jewellery at the Found Gallery in Dunbar, Scotland, which certainly looks like a beautiful place to visit.

Sleight of Hand works complete!

Material Landscape Cluster Brooch.
The brooch is wild and substantial and changed slightly from it's sketch, in as much as the 'jewels' appear to explode out from the centre in all directions.
Meanwhile, the Mine of Mines Necklace Collar below, has changed quite a bit from its original sketch, but still maintains the overall form and feel of the design sketch. It has a substantial weight to it and consists of elements reminiscent of abandoned factories, industry and machinery.....at least, that's the plan! Some of the 'jewels' feature abstracted fragments of photograph which have been created on the surface of the gem in a fine layer of copper, using my secret technique.

Here are the two design sketches that I have had selected for inclusion for the 2015 Association for Contemporary Jewellery touring exhibition, with the theme Sleight of Hand. The show will open at the Brewhouse, Burton upon Trent, 1-28 September, going to the Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh 7-31 October and then to Plymouth College of Art Gallery 16 November - 12 December. The Selection Panel members were:

Gaynor Andrews Head of the School of Jewellery, Birmingham Central University,
Lesley Craze MBE (ACJ's newest Advisor)
Professor Dorothy Hogg MBE
Johnny Rocket, jeweller to rockstars.

29 makers were selected from 46 applications, I am delighted that my designs were approved for inclusion. The show promises the usual wide range of styles, techniques and materials, all with a dash of magic, mystery, intrigue and skill.
Previous Association for Contemporary Jewellery exhibitions include Diamond Jubilee (which I took part in, see the Hat Pins for the Queen here),  Stainless and recently, Icons,
