Information regarding the pure tin jewellery:
Today tin is used in electronics and as an alloy for metals much as it has been since the Bronze Age, but in earliest times it was used in it's pure state for making high-status tin beads. Tin in its solid, pure metal incarnation - unlike 'organotin compounds' - is safe to wear next to the skin, does not oxidise in air and is non-toxic, as it is not readily absorbed by the human body, even through ingestion. Information regarding jewellery made from reclaimed tins: Q. What are the brightly coloured parts of the reclaimed tins jewellery made from? A. This is the printed steel that I have sheared out from unwanted tins and then gone on to shape, form, file and fit. Q. Will the reclaimed tins jewellery rust if I wear it in the rain? A. No, it would only rust if you left them sat in water or a very damp environment for a long time. |
Q. How robust is the jewellery?
A. The tins surface will only get scratched if you abrade it against rough surfaces, which would most likely occur on rings, but you'll notice that the tins elements on all my rings are slightly concave to avoid this from happening.
Q. How will I know if the ring will fit me / the person I'm buying it for as a gift?
A. The adjustable bands have a springy quality so for the first wear they can be opened up a few sizes or squeezed closed a few sizes, but if you let me know the finger size I can do that for you before I post it out to you. The fixed band sizes have their size stated with them - they cannot be re-sized smaller or larger, but I

Q. I've got a really nice tin at home, can you make one of your designs out of it for me? A. Yes, I've done this many times for customers. Just contact me with your requirements and a photo of the tin. Comissioning: Please contact me with your query: fluxplay@yahoo.co.uk |
