Material LandscapeRaw, cool designs featuring pure Tin; a heritage material with timeless, classic appeal. Artisan craftsmanship and modern, fresh thinking bring together the mineral qualities of Copper, Mica, Iron, Pyrite, Tourmaline, Silver and Tin, in a palette of earthy tones. My “Material Landscape Jewels” feature mineral and metal layers, encapsulated compositions of the undulating, scarred mining landscape which inspired them; the beautiful borderlands of the Tamar Valley. Achieved using my own methodology, the processes which were applied to the landscape - once the largest copper, tin and arsenic mine site in the world - have instead been applied to the production of each "Jewel" and each "TinScruff".
ENAMEL WORKAbraded, gnarled, subdued colours. Vitreous enamel on copper, with silver. Metallic glazes, peeling imagery and tactile surfaces pay homage to the mining Heritage Landscape of the Tamar Valley and Dartmoor area where Maria finds her inspirations.

Handmade, metalworked jewellery, automata, pens and objects, featuring re-purposed steel; lithographed tins that are vintage or new. Reformed into 'cabochon' shapes, the tins have been sawn out and mounted in constructed settings of silver, copper, brass or steel, the fragments of graphics selected from the tins are always the key inspiration in how the designs take their shape. One of-a-kind & limited edition pieces that are colourful, well-made and fun.
