Big Rock earrings.
In tones of chocolate, smoke and chalk and allowing you a glimpse into their interiors, mineral and metal layers are suspended in a miniature version of the undulating and scarred mining landscape which inspired these earrings; the beautiful Devon-Cornwall borderlands of the Tamar Valley. Nuggets of pure tin, grains of iron, copper and mica (the geologic materials of this landscape) combine with chalk in a handmade resin composition. Each design made with one of these 'jewels' is entirely unique, no two jewels are ever the same, being hand cut and finished in much the same way as a true earth gemstone is processed. Here, a deliberate mismatch pair complement each other in their uniqueness.
This pair has a textured surface on one side of each 'jewel' created by embossing my own illustration and they suspend in a way which allows them to swing from their hoops. Weighing 8g eachand measuring roughly 25x30x30mm they are not for the faint-hearted, hanging on sterling silver, elegant hand-made ear wires. There IS ONLY ONE of this design available to purchase.
