Chimneys and Jewels Cluster Necklace.
Pure tin sparkles richly via the chimney forms of this dramatic statement piece, inspired by the mine chimneys which dot the beautiful Devon-Cornwall borderlands of the Tamar Valley World Heritage Site.
Nuggets of pure tin, grains of iron, copper and mica (the geologic materials of this landscape), combine with chalk in resin compositions which have been achieved through layering processes and allow you to see within each 'jewel'. No two 'jewels' are ever the same, each one is hand cut and finished in much the same way as a true earth gemstone is processed. some have shimmering copper sides and some reveal gleaming bursts of pure tin. The 'jewels' cluster in apparent chaos around the chimneys and are interspersed by skeleton forms constructed in copper which echo the jewel forms. The chimneys have a soft, pleasing, clanking sound unique to tin and are embossed with abstract illustrations ofpatterns occurring in the landscape. The piece hangs from strong steel cable threaded within the grey braided sleeve, and slips easily over the head.
For an idea of size, see the image of the piece being worn, the chimneys are approx' 10cm in length. The jewellery comes presented in a box, wrapped, tied with bakers twine and finished with a card.
Postage is included in the price.
